Droid Tycoon Upgrade Chip Farming Guide

Compare repeatable Upgrade Chip sources, CB-23 reward odds, all ten Chip Scrap levels, and whether the Upgrade Chip Station fits how you play.

What is the fastest way to earn Upgrade Chips?

Use every source that fits your account. Daily Quests give guaranteed chunks, CB-23 averages 77 chips per 20-minute mission, Scrap adds active drops, and the Upgrade Chip Station rewards longer online sessions.

I would combine repeatable sources instead of waiting on one timer.

Calculate Station output

The short answer

Complete the Daily Quests that fit normal play, run CB-23 missions after unlocking it, and buy useful early Upgrade Chip Scrap levels before treating the 120-Nova Station as mandatory. The Station is strongest for active sessions with hourly collections and much weaker for one short daily check-in.

Current Rainbow Crate rewards

This is the v1.28 reward pool. These are exact displayed pool chances, not an estimate of how many crates a player will need.

The Chip Station survives a Super Rebirth again

v1.25 fixed the Upgrade Chip Station not working properly after a Super Rebirth. Players who stopped using it after seeing incorrect post-reset output can place a droid in it again.

Where Upgrade Chips come from

These are the repeatable sources recorded in Droidex. Limited events can add temporary sources, so check the current event board separately.

SourceRecorded payoutWhat slows it down
Easy daily quest10 chipsOne of three daily quest slots
Medium daily quest25 chipsOne of three daily quest slots
CB-23 secret mission40, 80, 120, or 160 chips20 minutes and requires CB-23
Upgrade Chip Scrap5 to 60 chips4.17% appearance chance with both Scrap perks
Upgrade Chip Station2 to 60 chips per minute120 Nova, one-hour storage, no offline production
Gold, Diamond, and Rainbow Crates50; 100; or Rainbow rolls of 300, 600, or 6,000 chipsRandom crate result; hat ownership changes the normalized chances

CB-23 is the clean repeatable route

The secret Elphrona mission takes 20 minutes. Since v1.23.2, its chip outcomes are 40 at 32.5%, 80 at 25%, 120 at 20%, and 160 at 12.5%. The remaining 10% outcome is 4 Nova Crystals. Across all outcomes the weighted chip average is 77 per mission; that average is not a promise for one run.

Where BB-8 fits

BB-8 has a recorded 2x Upgrade Chips effect. Having BB-8 equipped when collecting the Upgrade Chip Station doubles that payout. Droidex has not directly verified every other trigger against the multiplier, so it does not promise doubled CB-23 mission rewards.

Upgrade Chip Scrap levels

Each level changes the number of chips paid when a chip drop appears. These are individual purchase prices rather than cumulative totals.

Is the Upgrade Chip Station worth 120 Nova?

The Station produces only while the player is in game, stores one hour, and does not work offline. The placed droid sets production from 2 chips per minute for a Default Common to 60 for a Galactic Mythic. Multiply the best available droid's rate by 60 for one full collection.

For long sessions with hourly collection and a strong Beskar or Galactic droid, the Station can out-earn the other repeatable routes. For brief check-ins, a Default Common banks only 120 chips across a full active hour, while CB-23 and Scrap let the player choose when to farm.

The Station also changes what you should upgrade

A Common droid's complete Default-to-Galactic climb costs 275 chips and repays the extra Station production in 27.5 min. The same climb for a Mythic costs 116,000 chips and takes 38.7 hours of collected Station time. Compare the full rate and payback tables before spending chips merely to improve the Station.

Keep going

Use the Station calculator for the exact droid you can place, then compare that output with the chip target for the variant you actually want. The supporting guides separate Station rates, Scrap behavior, Astromech missions, and Nova Shop priorities so an uncertain source never becomes a promised payout.
