Droid Tycoon Nova Shop Upgrade Guide

Choose useful early Nova upgrades, understand the Daily Quest reward tradeoff, and decide when to save for the Station, second companion, or Flawless Charm.

What should I buy first with Nova Crystals?

Start with Credits Level 1 for 2 Nova, Blueprint Scrap Level 1 for 1, then Scrap Value Level 1 for 25. v1.26 also adds 120-crystal Credit Sell Bonus and 480-crystal Chip Sell Bonus tracks; Multi Crit now costs 4,000 total.

Choose Daily Quest Crystals once Nova, rather than Upgrade Chips, is your current bottleneck.

Plan my Nova spending

My early order

Start with Credits Level 1 for 2 Nova, then Blueprint Scrap Level 1 for 1, then Scrap Value Level 1 for 25. After that, alternate Credits and Scrap Value, taking whichever is cheaper next. Pick up Daily Quest Crystals at 30 when Nova is the bottleneck, and take the two 10-Nova unlocks when they solve a current problem.

Lounge Slot, Crafting Speed, and Pickaxe Mastery are inexpensive utility, but none produces credits. Buy them when they remove a real bottleneck rather than treating them as the automatic opening.

Multi Crit now has a complete four-level ladder

Multi Crit costs 400, 800, 1,200, and 1,600 Nova Crystals, or 4,000 total. Each level adds one extra roll after the first crit, every new roll uses half the Crit Chance of the roll before it, and Level 4 can display a five-hit chain. v1.26 also fixed the missing Multi Crit X5 trigger display.

Read the full Multi-Crit roll guide.

v1.26 added two sell-bonus tracks

Credit Sell Bonus costs 25, 40, and 55 Nova Crystals, or 120 total, and adds +250% sell Credits per level up to +750%. Chip Sell Bonus costs 60, 100, 140, and 180 Nova Crystals, or 480 total, and adds +50% Upgrade Chips per level up to +200%.

Blueprint Scrap is a prerequisite, and it has a cost

Scrap Value and Upgrade Chip Scrap are locked behind Blueprint Scrap. Its first level costs 1 Nova, but blueprint drops can interrupt an unattended Scrap session until they are cleared. If you leave Scrap running, that interruption is the practical cost of admission to the stronger Scrap tracks rather than a reason to pretend the prerequisite is optional.

Good first purchases

PurchaseFirst costWhy it works early
Credits Level 12Adds 20% credit production for 2 Nova. Nothing else in the shop is that cheap per point of income.
Blueprint Scrap Level 11Required before Scrap Value or Upgrade Chip Scrap can be bought at all. Read the caution below first.
Scrap Value Level 125Every pickaxe swing pays an extra 0.5 seconds of base credits. At 2.8 swings a second that is about 140% more income from one level.
Daily Quest Crystals30The only upgrade in the shop that pays Nova back. Worth it the moment Nova is your bottleneck.

Blueprint Vendor10Convenience purchase if you sell a lot of blueprints.

Daily Quest Crystals changes the reward

The 30-Nova upgrade replaces each Daily Quest Upgrade Chip reward with exactly 1 Nova Crystal. It does not add the crystal on top of the chips. Buy it when Nova is the bottleneck; wait when large Upgrade Chip totals still block your variants.

Since v1.24, an eligible Daily Quest can also award the droid required for the current Rebirth. The announcement did not confirm whether Daily Quest Crystals changes that separate reward chance, so Droidex does not assume that it does.

Credits scales forever

Credits adds 20% production per level. Its price starts at 2 Nova, rises by 4 each level, and has no final level. Level 1 costs 10 Nova per +100% income. By level 2 its next price has already crossed Scrap Value, which is why alternating the two tracks usually preserves more early value than buying only one.

Scrap Value is the strongest track, because a scrap is a swing

The shop wording awards 0.5 seconds of base credit generation per Scrap Station reward. A scrap is one pickaxe swing, not one visit to the station. At roughly 2.8 swings per second, one 25-Nova level is about 140% more income during continuous Scrap use, or roughly 18 Nova per +100% income. Only the first Credits level beats that value once.

Scrap Value has no final level. Its price rises by 30 per level and level 8 alone costs 235. The benefit also scales with actual swings: if you rarely use Scrap, the same purchase delivers much less and the recommended order genuinely changes with your play style.

Iconic droids are Nova purchases too

Each Iconic both produces a share of base credits while placed and supplies a separate companion effect while equipped. Their production and companion roles should both be compared with the permanent upgrade that the same Nova could buy.

R2-D2 and C-3PO produce 25% each. The 30-Nova Iconics produce 15% each, while their equipped effects distinguish them. D-O joins the Nova Shop on September 28, 2026 and cuts Fusion time in half. BB-8 doubles Upgrade Chips. Super Crates count as World Quests, so this doubles Super Crate rewards too. Production stacks across owned and placed Iconics; companion effects require an equipped slot. Chopper is omitted because it was an event reward and has no announced Nova Shop price.

The purchases that depend on how you play

These purchases are useful only when the account can use their benefit now. A long-session tool, a second equipped effect, and a reward conversion can each be excellent for one routine and premature for another.

PurchaseCostBuy whenWait when
Credit Sell Bonus25 first / 120 totalSelling droids is a major credit source for this run. Most of your income comes from placed droids.
Chip Sell Bonus60 first / 480 totalYou sell enough droids for +50% chips per level to compound. You need the next variant upgrade before the bonus can repay itself.
Multi Crit400 first / 4,000 totalYour Crit Chance and Crit Amount already make extra rolls valuable.Cheaper permanent income and workshop upgrades are still missing.
Daily Quest Crystals30You want Nova more than Upgrade Chips. You are still chip-starved.
Double Daily Quests75You reliably finish all three quests.Your quest set often goes unfinished.
Upgrade Chip Station120You play long sessions and collect hourly. You mostly log in for short visits.
Second Companion250You have two effects that work together. You still swap tasks one at a time.
Flawless Charm500Flawless collecting is your current goal.Progression upgrades are still missing.

What I would save for

  • 30 or 60 Nova: Iconics, starting with the effects your routine can use. Their production does not become more expensive and does not expire.
  • 120 Nova: Upgrade Chip Station for long active sessions with hourly collections.
  • 250 Nova: Second Companion after two equipped effects improve the same routine. The slot becomes more valuable as the Iconic collection grows.
  • 500 Nova: Flawless Charm after collection quality matters more than account-wide upgrades.

Base Paints cost 30, 120, and 400 Nova and are cosmetics, so they stay outside a progression budget. Lobby boosts expire and compete with the next permanent upgrade every time they are bought; a 60-Nova Galactic Surge provides five minutes, or 720 Nova per hour of uptime.

Keep going

Use the Nova Shop Planner to record owned levels, current crystals, the next target, the exact shortfall, and the number of Super Rebirth runs required. Compare Upgrade Chip farming, Scrap interruptions, and Flawless hunting before committing crystals to the related one-time purchases.
